DIANE'S DESK

February 17

Hi Musicheads. Not to worry. Things are moving along with getting this radio station back on the air. There are a lot of necessary parts that have to fit together. Slowly but surely, it is happening. You'll be able to hear us on the radio dial again in the very near future.

Meanwhile, our online listener numbers are growing enormously. It's very encouraging to see that. And we are also approaching the 100,000 mark on visits to this website. The exact number appears on the bottom right of this page.

We have added a list of musicians celebrating birthdays this month so that you can see the exact date for each birthday. Also included are the amazing musicians who have passed through the veil. As it turns out, Russ will not necessarily pay tribute to each musician on the exact day of his/her birthday. It all depends on how the calendar works out. But the list serves as a guide.

My movie recommendation for this month is the wonderful film, Crazy Heart, which features a favorite actor of mine, Jeff Bridges. He should be clearing a space on his mantel for that Oscar. The spectacular Robert Duvall also appears in the film, which he helped to produce. We've added some tunes from the soundtrack to our music library. T Bone Burnett wrote the tunes and produced the album.

If you can possibly fit it into your schedule, try to catch Dave Mason (sharing the bill with Leon Russell) at The Egg in Albany on Saturday, March 6. For tix: www.theegg.org

Mark Knopfler is playing at The Palace in Albany on Sunday, May 9.

Finally, we would appreciate your listener support contribution, if you haven't done so already. Any amount is fine. Please consider a small automatic monthly donation.

Checks can also be mailed to The Album Station P.O. Box 9 Bristol, VT 05443

Every little bit helps go toward the odds and ends that we need to finish up the construction of the station.

Thank you and take care.

Diane

ABOUT

THE MUSIC STATION

The Album Station is a locally-programmed station, broadcasting throughout the Champlain Valley and beyond, that has the freedom to play the music you want to hear, featuring over 6000 tracks of the best music from over the past 40 years.

The Album Station is what FM radio used to be known for: an alternative to top 40 chart-driven programming. We have one of the largest playlists in the country, because we play tracks many other stations have abandoned, due to corporate programming and market research surveys.

At The Album Station we combine familiar hits with album cuts, striking a balance between new and old rock songs, R & B, blues, folk and jazz. We showcase artists' creativity, exemplifying their particular skill or talent.

We favor cuts off albums you love, but haven't heard in years, going deeper into the less commercial tracks. We play music you want to hear that you won't hear anywhere else.

Just think. People spend over a billion dollars a year for satellite radio and more often than not they are not happy with what they hear. It's not exciting. Listening to the Album Station and hearing Russ or Diane playing something you have not heard in 20 years is exciting. We musicheads keep coming back for more. Now is your chance to keep your radio the way you like it by keeping the Album Station alive and playing the music you want to hear. Not many people can say that they support the best radio station anywhere.

If you're a regular listener, you know there are a few things about The Album Station that are not like all the others. The commercials are not the loud fast-paced ones that play every hour that you're sick of hearing. They go on and on while you wonder where the music is. That doesn't happen here. Our ads play for a minute or two, and then, it's back to the tunes.

So step up to the plate, sign up for a monthly donation and be part of the Musichead Family.

You can make a difference by supporting the best radio station around. A monthly donation of $5, 10 dollars or 25 dollars will help continue the very best music radio anywhere. Join our advertising sponsors in helping to keep The Album Station soundtrack a part of our lives.

Just $10 dollars a month is about 33 cents a day…..a pretty great bargain for being able to hear outstanding music on the radio. Become part of the Musichead Family with your regular support. We play music that you won’t hear anywhere else. Live programming from the mountains and valleys of Vermont.

If you're a Live 365 internet listener, an easy way to help even more is to become a VIP, which helps decrease our Live 365 payment. It's only $8 a month. Thanks for your support.
