  1. Hi Diane & Russ.

Listening all the way from Hastings in the UK here. WCLX is fantastic - I love your music and you guys have such a great attitude.

Take care and love always - Rocker Kev.

  2. Hello WCLX,

I've got one leg out of the cave and one in the 21st century. My new toy, a mac ibook, is online and I'm back in tune with you guys. You were the only station I tuned into and I've missed you. Now I have access to you once again. I will look for the anouncement of your new frequency.

    Love you; love the Beatles

  3. Russell, Diane, and the Crew:

I tuned in. Splendid Isolation by Warren Zevon was on. Went to read up on how things were progressing and WOW, great news. Splendid isolation from the Music Head World no more, truly will be a Happy New Year! Looking Furthur.

  4. Russ and Diane - that's great news about your return to the air. I had simply stopped listening to the radio in my car. Looking forward to the new freq. and call letters.

    Jimmy P

  5. Hi Russ, Diane & Co.,

What a treat to log on this evening and read your latest update. Very encouraging! I'm sure none of this adversity has been very pleasant but there is some truth to the old adage that, ' what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger'. I have faith you guys will emerge from the ashes of the old WCLX more beautiful then the Phoenix. To your future...Have a foamy new beer!!!

    Charlie

  6. Diane,

I finally remembered to go to the MusicHeads page to be able to listen to your great station. I tried to get it through iTunes but to no avail (although I did see that other station with the 102.9 signature there). Also surprised not to see SmallDog Electronics listed as one of your sponsors. They are a great source of Mac products and are located in Waitsfield, plus thet have a store in S.Burlington. Wouldn't hurt to solicit. I'm sure there's a lot of old heads listening to you there.

Hope you back over the airways soon. I'll be in Kent for May 4th and will post some info on Krotch Shots soon. Meanwhile I'll make sure the MusicHeads page is added to the links.

    Denny

  7. Hi Guys. any word on radio transmission in the Vermont area? Is it still being planned, or has radiot been totallly scrapped? I only visit, so I love listening at school in New York. My son is a Burlington resident and doesn't have the internet in his apartment; really misses you guys in the car. Please update, and continued best of luck.

  8. Diane or Russ - we haven't had any "official" updates on things in a while. Last post you were looking to get back on the air but I don't see anything recent. Are you able to make a go of the internet radio gig for a while? I realize that to us it's great music, but I also understand it is how you put food on the table. Hope things are looking better for the New Year.

    Peace,

    Jim

  9. HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF OUR ALBUM STATION LISTENERS. THANK YOU FOR ALL OF THE CARDS CALLS AND E MAILS. WE LOVE YOU.

  10. Damn, Diane, Smokey Robinson & The Miracles' "Tears of a Clown" is one of the best songs ever committed to vinyl (and it's also the first 45 I ever purchased as a young'n). Hearing it amidst the great mix of Album Station tunes has elevated my otherwise-pedestrian Tuesday afternoon, Thanks!

  11. For those of you with an itouch or an iphone. I just got an itouch and I went to search in APPS and found LIVE 365. I got the free app and now I can plug my itouch into my stereo and again have great tunes in my shop to listen to all day every day.

I had to do something, it almost makes me sick to listen to what is there now.

There is no replacement for the Albulm Station.

  12. Hello Diane and Russ,

I'm totally with you and really miss the album station on my stereo reciever, though i'm really glad we can be intouch here and the farout sounds come through live365. The sounds I grew up with that you play are so farout. So be well and happy solstice, New years, and beyond. I can't wait to here you all in my truck again!!

    Love and Peace!!

    Ileene

  13. Although I do miss you on the radio dial, even when you were broadcasting in that traditional fashion, I could receive reliable reception of WCLX only in my car. I find it sad and frustrating to know that you have at least temporarily been driven off the air waves. However, I am very grateful that you remain as you always have been, a beacon of great music for those who appreciate it and know where to find it. Best wishes for success in your efforts to keep the music we love alive and appreciated.

  14. I just recently picked up on the 'new' WCLX 102.9. What a weird and ugly mix that is.. oddball, not very good blues; obscure, not very good 'indie' and (possibly) 'new folk'. I was thinking that maybe The Album Station was trying a new format, but nothing seemed right-no explanations, no comments, etc. Checked back in at this web site for an update, and I'm glad I did! Keep us posted...and happy holidays!

  15. I can see where it might be confusing to some listeners that the call letters that were associated with The Album Station for so many years are being used by different programmers. They should have changed them! Anyway......they're really not fooling many people.......only the clueless. Most everyone can tell the difference. BTW. I am not a cow. And I am enjoying the streaming on Live 365. I removed 102.9 from the presets in my car.

  16. Rocker Kev from sunny Hastings , UK here.

Thank you for such a wonderful radio station. Especially for playing the full version of Pink Floyd - Echoes

Keep up the good work folks !!!!!

  17. I love the liner "Rockin' in the free world and Vermont " (Doug?). That's a most likely unintended statement of the truth! LMAO!! Here's hoping the free-market music of The Album Station can thrive in the world market of the internet despite the reality of modern-day Vermont. I'd like to hope that Russ & Diane could save a bunch of taxes by moving across the state line to the impoverished hamlet of their former community-of-license, Westport, NY. But it is New York after all. You'd just be paying for the city here and not getting any of the benefits. So best to stay put, grin and bear it.

Politics/reality aside, rock on, Russ, Diane and Chip!

  18. I was away from radio for a few months this summer and when I returned 102.9 was quiet; no signal. I kept trying and a couple of weeks ago I started hearing something on that frequency that sounded similar at times but certainly not the same. I had no idea what had happened until I finally got to do a few Google searches. Snakes in the grass and crawling up my legs! Bite me, new WCLX! Several times I was about to call in to their Tell Us What You Think phone number to let them know that I turn to another station when that common Pop Rock crap comes on. But, now, I think it's probably better if I just tune out and let them fade away rather than try to 'improve' them. Their programming is disjointed, abrassive at times and simply does not flow smoothly.

I hope someday that the old 102.9/WCLX will find another frequency to continue playing that same great format that I really appreciate. While Internet streaming is OK at certain times and places, it is not as portable and available as radio waves.

  19. For music submissions: You can find our address on the bottom of the homepage. P.O. Box 9, Bristol 05443

  20. Hi Russ, Diane & Co.,

Your absense from the Vermont airwaves has created a black hole that is sucking the life out of the radio medium, as we once knew it. How thankful I am for you uninterrupted streaming on the web. This has been a life saver to get through very long, 12 hour, over night, work shifts. Have you seen much on this new film "Pirate Radio"? Seems to me whoever it is that weaseled their way into your airspace, using your dial location - 102.9 & call letters - WCLX, are the real pirates. How is this legally possible? Check that. I'm sure there is some very legalese explanation that would only add to that sucking black hole. A better question to ponder is, how can you highjack your livelyhood back? Suz and I miss you guys & we're looking forward to hearing you back on the air.

    Charlie

  21. So glad I found you again! I wondered why we couldn't get you on the radio at work anymore! Now I can only listen at home (can't stream at work), but that's okay. Just sent ya a little something to keep you online!

  22. How can I submit my music for airplay consideration on your station?

    Df Michael,

    www.dfmichael.com

  23. Thanks Ed, Jay, and everyone who realizes that we are most definitely NOT broadcasting on the 102.9 frequency any more. No, we are not "back"......First of all, we never went away. All of our regular Album Station programming continues online. (See the homepage to listen.) When we do return to the airwaves, we will let you know via phone calls, e mails and also right here on our official website.

  24. I'm with you Jay, there is just to much bad radio out there. I miss The Album Station.

  25. If you tuned into 102.9 lately you will hear some very crappy radio programing, You can tell it is not Diane and Russ. It is MUDD radio from Middlebury and it sucks big time. It is very easy to tell if a DJ knows what he is diong with the music program. What you are hearing now is maybe one good song and then a bunch crap you do no want to listen to. There is no way I can listen to that. I'll wait for Russ and Diane.

  26. Hi Diane & Russ...........I had no idea the reason I couldn't get you on the radio was because you are off the air! I miss your station soooooo much!! I thought another station was interfereing (sp?) with your signal. I get quickly tired of 104.7 & 105.1. I w hope I can send you a donation soon.

    Best wishes!

    Lyna Lou

  27. What happened to the radio!!! i miss you! why isnt wclx on the air!?!? i am having withdrawls. please come back on the air please!!! wclx is the best station! now i have nothing to listen to. listening to it on the internet is not the same as just turning on the radio. i love your show. the music is great. i hope you will come back soon! wclx is the best radio.

  28. For anyone who is a music head, life as we know it ceased to exist on 9/9/09 with CLX being taken off the air. I spent a couple years doing a stint as a DJ on my college radio station about 30 years ago. I was like a kid in a candy store - albums by artists from A to Z were at my fingertips...Grand Funk, Steve Forbert, Little Feat, Traffic, Joni Mitchell, Jean Luc Ponty, JJ Cale, Tom Waits, music - real music. The same music that CLX was known for. Music that a 'head' could listen to for hours, music that transformed us, fed our souls, made us dream. Losing CLX is just wrong.

  29. I spoke without seeing the show is a go. I will be there and with an additional donation. Everyone come out for this. Great show, and good tunes and will help get wclx back in our cars!!!

  30. Dianne, Please keep us informed. How is the fundraising going? Any news on the benefit show? I will certainly be there for that. Putting The Album Station back on the airwaves is a priority. Jim

  31. Count me in - I sent my donation in today. It is great that you can continue streaming over the web, but there is no substitute for getting you back on the air! Your programming is unique - and really is the only music station I care to listen to day after day. Since you have gone off the air, I have searched up and down the dial for a temporary substitute, but find myself plugging in the iPod instead. Long live underground radio!

  32. I'm writing from the radio desert of Athens, Georgia, where Cox owns and "programs" everything in town, except for a college station and an LP that are probably great if you are under 30. You guys are an oasis for me. I just sent what I could. I hope you can get back on FM soon, so your local audiance can get you back in the car - oh how I've envied them..

  33. Our recent stay in VT was a real bummer when we realized our favorite station (In the World) was not on the air. I'm confident you will be back up soon. Your station is truly one of a kind.

  34. My wife and I are recent Metro NYC transplants. We discovered WCLX one night last year while anchored on our sailboat. We live in Rutland, and travel up to "the lake" for respite. THE FIRST thing to do upon arrival, was to turn on "the album station".We considered WCLX as important as bringing food and water! The station has put us to sleep many a night, and sent shivers up our spines upon hearing excellent new music, or songs not heard in 20 years.

I REFUSE to listen to the same 75 songs, or support the stations that do. My donation is on its way. FELIX & SUE

  35. As a Canadian (Québec) trucker who drives daily from the Eastern Townships through Vermont, WCLX was a real highlight of my day. Friday evenings were a special treat with the Blues hour. Often I would get home and go online to find more about the artists or songs that I had heard during the day, often searching details just based on a recurring phrase in the song. At first I was thinking that my antenna was defective and that was the reason for not being able to listen to you, alas the truth was discoverd! I listen to VPR and contribute on a monthly basis to their programming and would be willing to do the same with WCLX. Even though you're on the web, it's no use to me in my truck......

Hoping that you can find a radio solution, all the best,

    Mark

  36. The loss I've been feeling since you were taken off the air is kind of hard to explain. I don't get the station at home in Central VT, but listened daily while working in Burlington until "retiring" in April. It was on my car radio whenever the reception was allowed and I often listened on the web. I will be paypaling a donation, and will keep posted on your efforts. WCLX was a treasure, and I will urge others to support it as well. Keep the faith.

  37. My donation is on it's way too. People pay for Cable/sattelite TV and Sattelite radio. This is no different. It is funny how things are taken for granted until they are taken. Then People, it is time to take it back!!! We pay our bills for the aforementioned. Let's step up here too. A valuable resource hinges in the balance. A call to all Musicheads, let's fill that "static void". Need more convincing? Listen to one or two of the classic rock stations for one hour. "The Grand Illusion" for the 1,000th time, or something fresh? New tunes of Back Door Slam. Fresh new artists such as Joanne Shaw Taylor, or more of the worn out tracks that market research says that we like? The choice is obvious. Let's do it now!!!!

  38. I'm just wondering how much progress has been made fundraising...I sent in my contribution a week ago.....Happy to do it if it gets The Album Station back on the air!!

  39. Hey Diane, Russ, Chip, and crew--finally today I thought to check musicheads.us to see what the scoop was. Sheesh--so sorry this happened. Wish I could add a bunch of zeros to my donation. Thanks for the streaming audio, but, like an e-book, it's just not the same as the "real thing." I hope you'll be back on the air before too long. Good luck!

  40. Could I ever find in you again

Things that made me love you so much then

Could we ever bring them back once they have gone?

    I really hope so.

  41. We Need to Support a Great Thing:

After living in a number of major cities, I can't say I have ever encountered a station with such excellent programming. As a "former" musician and life long rock scholar, I was totally humbled with the depth of the tracks and Russ and Diane's knowledge. Ok so we can either all like what Clear Channel decides what we can listen to or get out our wallets and creativity and support these guys in their quest to get back on the air. Russ/Diane/Chip please keep up the faith and updates. Let us know what you need - money, fund raising- car wash/bake sales/thsirts - what ever it takes, you name it and we will help you out.

Don't let The Man get you down

    Peace,

    Jimmy P

  42. It's not fair - I just found you a few weeks ago while visiting my son in VT (I'm from Philly) and have been listening online ever since. What a great station!!!! Now you're gone? Well, that stinks!!! Do whatever it takes to get back on the air (the web at least). You guys are way too good and know way too much about our generation's great music to not be sharing it with the world.

The web could be a huge opportunity that, if properly tapped, could provide all the revenue you need to keep going, and even subsidize whatever it costs to get on the local airwaves in Burlington. Don't underestimate the power of the numbers. Even if 50,000 people paid only a buck or two per month, what could you accomplish with $50,000 or $100,000 per month? And who wouldn't pay $2/month for access to your great tunage and amazing rock and roll knowledge? I pay a heck of a lot more than that for XM Deep Tracks every month. There must be millions of people around the world that crave the same great music we all enjoy - we just need to let them know you exist - the music will do the rest.

My first donation is on the way. Contact me if you want help kicking around ideas on how to maximize the web opportunity.

  43. Another newcomer to WCLX, I'm listening from all the way over in Glasgow. I'm sad to hear something, whatever it is, has happened to WCLX. I always enjoyed Diane's cheerful commentaries in between songs and features. It's a shame. You guys had some great music.

Here's hoping, whatever's going on, that stuff gets sorted.

    Much love,

    ~Fiona

  44. Hey, hey what can I do? Got a landlord that won't be true! Well, I say see ya later dude and I think you guys and what you are all about we be the better for it as will all us music-heads. I'm lovin' the idea of a benefit concert...hopefully this Fall??? I think you should have one every year. Also, just an idea for ya: maybe you could get some good rock memorabilia from all the bands you know...Savoy Brown, Davie Knowles, etc. and have an auction. And to that end, I've got a sweet Tragically Hip poster from the Shelburne venue this summer all framed and yours for the taking...should bring a couple hundred bucks at least. I will also be sending in my donation. And as a sponsor, maybe we could get all the sponsors together to donate $5-$10 from each sale???? Just a thought. If there's anything else you want me to get involved with, just let me know. Rock On.

    Jas

    Big Picture Framing

  45. Tis a shame I'm forced to tune to 'The Point' now. I just can't do it. VPR will have to fill the void.

  46. I have listened to your station, read the WCLX updates, and have read the listener comments. Now in the anguish of silence, I submit my own comments. I have lived and traveled around the country and the world. So tired I am of the "routine" of the mainstream radio programs. WCLX is a uniquely quirky station that represents, for lack of a better word...FREEDOM and is truly "underground" radio at its best! I lived in England for 2 great years and had purchased a SAVOY BROWN cd, who would have thought that I'd be able to hear them in Vermont? The memories, the fond memories. I enjoyed the rock-n-roll "history" lesson I recieved everytime I tuned in to WCLX. I look forward to the benefit concert. and hope to once again, be entertained by the great folks at WCLX, 102.9, The Album Station! Thank you and GOOD LUCK !!!

  47. from the addison 4 corner store, we miss the music and Russ with all the comments about the featured albums, we waiting for your next move, hope it comes soon. good luck Russ and Diane

  48. haven't heard you lately and thought it was my radio...you'll be missed!

  49. Another person mourning the loss. I discovered WCLX fairly recently, but you've been a staple ever since I found you. None of the other stations quite measure up.

  50. To all at wclx, I hope some resolution can be reached or even a solution. My commutes are now silent. I can't bring myself to hear the same tunes again by the "classic stagnant stations". Market research is to radio as overplayed music is to drones. The Champlain Valley now has a huge void. I would not object to a few more commercials if it makes the station viable. The most important thing is the waves of great music sent by WCLX. Here is to better times and another time with the Musicheads.

  51. With sadness I say :

    SEE YABYE!

  52. Sad news indeed for Russ, Diane, and all the loyal WCLX listeners. The overall state of FM radio is pathethic and I loved the fresh AOR air that Russ and Diane brought to our area via WEXP and then WCLX. I guess the problem with being the leaseholder for a transmitter/frequency is that you are not the owner and lack the control that affords.

WCLX is irreplaceable for the rock variety it offered to those without satellite radio or constant internet access. Russ, I think you should write a book with all the encyclopedic information about the rock artists you featured on Rock and Roll birthdays. Diane, I still think your Blue Sky Cafe show was one of the best I ever heard on radio anywhere and my Sunday mornings will not be the same without it. Thanks and I hope we haven't heard the last of you and the type of quality radio you brought to Vermont.

  53. We are very distressed to our favorite station off the air. A light in the night. Something we thought would always be there. VERY upset and uncertain who to listen to now. Rich has known Russ and Diane since EXP - their station filled a void that will never be filled again. We are saddened by this poor choice to take WCLX off the air when such mediocre stations still remain.

  54. I had been away from the radio for a couple of days. I can't believe WCLX is off the air. I'm 49, grew up near San Francisco and WCLX is the only station I've ever heard that compared to the KSAN of the mid and early 1970's. I hope your benefit concert materializes, keep us posted so people can lend support.

    Fight the Power!

  55. stunned. 09/09/09. the day that music died.

i feel guilty even listening to it on the web because i know that these sounds aren't filling the beautiful champlain valley. you guys are such an integral part of living here, there's gotta be a way for us to pull together and give it to the man. please keep us updated...word of mouth will go a long way with such loyalty.

  56. Well, it's taken me over a week to finally try and find out why, when I tuned in with my car radio, I started to get static instead of the best music I have heard in years. I can't tell you how many times I've been transported back to my college days through your station - so many smiles, so many memories. Please come back - life just isn't the same...........

  57. Come back, WCLX! I miss having you accompany me on drives around the valley.

  58. I was shocked to hear static on my favorite radio station and had no clue what happened until I searched the internet for an answer. I'm saddened to hear about the attitudes of this station owner, but perhaps moving is for the best. Let's hope the transition is as quick and smooth as possible (from this point on) and that The Album Station lasts forever!

    Regards,

    Brandon Rue

    South Burlington, VT

  59. I have been a member of the Musicheads since just about the beginning! I knew the first time I heard Little Feat being played that I had found a REAL radio station. I have gone thru the frequency changes, the streaming, and so much more with these guys. I moved to Wisconsin at the end of June, but I am still listening to WCLX online. I cannot believe that this has been done to Russ, Diane and Chip. I really hope that the person responsible for this will see the errors in his ways, and put you back on the air. There are NO stations out here in WI like WCLX, maybe in the whole USA!!! Do us all a favor, and put WCLX back on 102.9. Money isn't everything.

  60. Hi -

I too came here to find out what'd happened. Hearing that static @ 102.9 was a blow. I'm always bummed when I head down 89 & have to switch over to that station that used to be pretty good (& also used to be locally owned). In fact - that station has gotten so bad (especially compared to CLX) that I just switch to VPR when I'm out of CLX range.

While I've read the stuff on the home page, the 7 Days article & comments here, I'm still unclear. Of course that may be because the situation is!

I read that the license owner is owed "about what a compact car costs". So - if this amount is paid, does that put the station back on the air? Have you given up on working with this license holder? If a clear & concise description of any plans could be posted, I for one would find that helpful. If we donate - what will the donation do?

If it's true that ~$25,000 would do the job, I'll bet that amount could be raised in a week or 3 - using donations here as well as some benefit concerts, etc. But - I think to do it would mean having a plan in place.

    Thanks!

  61. I, too, have been missing WCLX and finally checked your website to get the scoop. So unfortunate! Will support any efforts to get you established on another frequency! Good luck on this and Godspeed!

  62. I miss the mellowness and soothingness from you when I'm cruising in my car. Hurry back... please. When you've gotten a taste of what music heads gave, there's no going back, pure coolness.

  63. WCLX going off the air is incredible.

I've lived in NYC, Tulsa, Minneapolis, Dallas, Wichita, Asheboro, and a few other places. WCLX played the kind of music few radios play. Music with soul. Music with a story. Artists with stories. Not the mainstream crap you hear a thousand times per day on any given day. A fabulous blend of music.

When I first moved to VT, when I first started working in Burlington, I was shocked at how limited the quality of radio was in a state, a town supposedly so full of culture.

    Then I found WCLX.

Best of luck finding another frequency.

My commute will be a little less tolerable until WCLX finds a new home on the dial.

Thank you for continuing the web broadcast..

  64. Such great programming. Chip, your double shot of Don Henley singing "I Can't Stand Still" followed by "Learn to be Still" is still my favorite!

  65. I'll come to your benefit concert - CLX is the best station around. Back to records and CD"s until you come back. Please.

  66. Well,at least there is the internet. I miss my car tunes. I've been listeining to scratched cd's lately..This is my favorite radio station and as if i am going to be forced to listein to the wizard,or even worse..

  67. What? are you kidding me. I can't listein to my favorite radio station when i'm in my car or falling asleep. Well at least I have the internet and there is still something.I'm sure alot of people out there feel the same way. I bet alot of people are digging through scratched and dinged up CD's right now..

  68. Hello Diane and Russ, I too, was wondering what had happened to the ONLY radio station I listen to. Major bummer. I just read your post this morning. There is no radio without WCLX. I sincerely hope you can get WCLX back on the air soon. Meanwhile I am grateful that I can listen on the web, but I miss you in my car!

    Susan

  69. I awoke as usual the other day, shut off the alarm and reached up to flip the switch on my radio, which is perpetually tuned to 102.9. Static.... I reached up to the tuning knob (it's an old one) and turned it in one direction, then the other. OK, got stations on either side. "Wonder what's up," I said to myself, "well, they do have occasional outages, they'll be back on later."

Later came and went. Much later came and went; still no signal on any of my receivers.

"Your circuit's dead, there's something wrong..."

Next morning, same problem. I was getting nervous. Then I recalled there was an appeal for donations. OMG, I hope they haven't succumbed to the rotten economy! I got on the computer and went directly to Live365. "Oh good, they're still out there. Must have been a pretty serious equipment failure," I told myself. I went to the website and read the awful news.

"And the radio is in the hands of such a lot of fools"

"Oh by the way, which one's Pink?"

Wow, what a rotten thing to happen. I feel like some of my really good friends have moved away. Where can I listen to all the great research and music Russ pulls together for Rock 'n Roll birthdays? What about Diane's Blue Sky Cafe, my Sunday morning routine, not to mention Beatle Bruch? No CLX?

"I was tryin' to find my way home

But all I heard was a drone

    Bouncing off a satellite

Crushin' the last lone American night

This is radio nowhere, is there anybody alive out there?

This is radio nowhere, is there anybody alive out there?

I was spinnin' 'round a dead dial

Just another lost number in a file

    Dancin' down a dark hole

Just searchin' for a world with some soul."

There must be a good solution to this! I know Canada has a large number of co-op radio stations. The community of musicheads MUST have something to offer. How can we help?

"You know, if one person, just one person does it they may think he's really sick and they won't take him.

And if two people, two people do it, in harmony, they may think they're both faggots [sic] and they won't take either of them.

And three people do it, three, can you imagine, three people walking siningin a bar of [Blue Sky Cafe*] and walking out. They may think it's an organization.

And can you, can you imagine fifty people a day,I said fifty people a day walking in singin a bar of [Blue Sky Cafe*] and walking out. And friends they may thinks it's a movement"

    *(Apologies to Arlo)

Don't give up. You have a lot of fans out here pulling for you!

  70. To my friends Diane, Russ & Chip ~

As one who has taken this wild ride with you over the last 10 years, I share your sadness with WCLX being taken off the air on 9/9/09. I agree with other fans who have written in: the loss of the station has created a gaping hole in local radio. Your playlist and air talent were one-of-a-kind and will be sorely missed.

When I think back to the countless hours of air shifts, production, ad sales, engineering, concert production, promotion, interviews, accounting, management, networking, miles and miles of driving and who knows what else it has taken to keep the station running, it reminds me that the product we all had the privilege to hear every day was a direct result of your talent, skill , hard work and energy. And let's remember your consistent dedication to keeping the best rock and blues on the airwaves for all of us to enjoy. What a blessing it has been - a soundtrack to life with the songs I've loved for a long time. Thank you for ten years of effort and sacrifice, it is deeply appreciated.

As your friend, I have been privy to many behind-the-scenes challenges and hard times over the years - a burden which you have shouldered with grace and dignity. To keep your on-air product at such a high standard while dealing with, well, shall we say, a lot of bullshit in the background requires focus and determination, characteristics I know you'll bring to future ventures.

    And Diane, since you asked...

In numerology, the number 9 is the number of sympathy, love, selfless sacrifice and morality, and it is also the number of completion and finality. How's THAT for appropriate?? One chapter is ending so that another can begin. I am honored to journey along side as you turn the next page.

    With love,

    Nance

  71. My husband was horrified when he tuned in yesterday to find country music. We are so bummed because CLX is and always will be our favorite station. In the interim, we will listen on-line but please, please come back and keep your fans posted. We are so sad :(.

  72. Still stunned about this! You are missed more than you could possibly know!

Russ I have known you all fo my life, and a wonderful friend you have been. I know that you and Diane will be back on the air soon. Good Karma will be rewarded!

    LOVE YOU BOTH

  73. OH NO!!!! We wondered what happened -- we couldn't find you on the radio the past few days. Where are my blues?? Just read Diane's note -- I am sad and disgusted, and so sorry you've been subjected to such vile treatment. WE MISS YOU and are behind you all the way. There's not much left to listen to on the VT dial!!!

  74. Thanks to all you fellow music heads for adding comments here at musicheads.us.It has made the loss of 102.9

easier to bear for Russ, Diane,& myself. We miss being able to do what we've done for the last 10 years on 102.5,

& later on 102.9. It's a crushing blow for all of us who love music,& not the same 500 drab hit songs the other Fm's

play over, & over, & over! We will keep streaming (via live 365) on musicheads.us, while we search for another FM

Radio freq around these parts. Thank-you all so much for listening these past 10 years! We truly appreciate all of

you, and promise we'll be back on air as soon as we can. In the meantime stay with musicheads.us.We love you!

  75. Hey, Norm in Peru....you didn't leave any contact info. Russ would be happy to call you and walk you through the process. Send your phone number to wclx@madriver.com (It doesn't need to be published on the website). You can also call us. We are here.

    802-759-4000

  76. I can't believe that you're gone! I can't find anything on my radio that's worth listening to. Please continue to look for a way to get back on the air. I stumbled upon your station by accident several years ago, and I've been listening ever since. I miss waking up to Russ every morning, and I haven't found any station to set the clock radio to. I'm beginning to understand why some people are willing to pay for satellite radio--just to have some choices.

  77. somebody please help! RUSS GET UP! I HAVE NO SOUND ON MY COMPUTER.I"M NO COMPUTER WIZ AND MY KIDS ARE AT MOMS. NOW WHAT IM JONESIN FOR MY BLUES

  78. Came back from a business trip, got into my car, turned the radio on and nothing came out. It's been a bummer the last couple of days. I hope yo u find a new frequency soon.

  79. Maybe I'm just a hopeless optimist, but there has to be a way we can convince someone with a license that there is a place for Diane, Russ & Chip and the music we all enjoy. Should we start with a Facebook page named something like "Save the music of WCLX"? This might start to make some people realize how many loyal fans are out here. To Diane & Russ, thanks for all your support for my cancer benefit concert over the years. Where else could I find someone willing to play Commander Cody music during drive time to help get the crowd out? Sincere thanks from the bottom of my heart. Does anyone else have other ideas or connections to help save the music?

  80. I was unpleasantly surprised to return from vacation 2 days ago, and I found static in place of The Album Station. Since I moved to Burlington 5 years ago, I have enjoyed this truly unique cultural treasure. There was no need to touch the dial in my car...until now. Here's hoping that you find friendlier airwaves - preferably owned by someone local.

  81. i cannot put in words what you guy's meant to us..as i peer over the key board watery eyed trying too comprehend this i am at a loss.....i can not say how gratefull jane and i too have you and chip at our wedding.....thanks again . i really miss you guys. guess i will listen to talk radio...there is absulutey nothing out there that can hold a candle of what you russ and chip provided...

    thanks for everything

    jane and mike reeves

  82. It will be a quiet work commute now. I have been spoiled. There is nothing even remotely worth listening too now. Go back and listen to the 500 track playlists of tunes that I have heard enough to need not ever again. I hope something can be done. Perhaps some backing will come. 09-09-09. The day the music died...........

  83. Another very stunned listener. I share all the aforementioned comments. My computer is not set up to my stereo (yet). If anyone hears any news/reasons/developments, please share them with us all. 09-09-09 The day the music died.

  84. Having a radio station that is your 'soundtrack' has been wonderful. You've played music that I only heard a few times in the last 40 years and thought that I'd forgotten. You've helped add a healthy portion of blues to my musical accumen. Even with a few ycccck's in taste,(what do you want for a 24 hour soundtrack?) you have been the best I've heard. I miss getting into the car and hearing y'all. And, while I'm back to classical at home, it just ain't the same. Let us know how to help. Hope the opportunities bloom.

  85. I've been really confused for the past 2 days, just got on the website to read that what I feared most has happened. WE WILL MISS YOU on the radio dial. I've been driving around as a music head since back when it was tuned in on 102.5. There really is no subsitute for what you provided. Not only did I get to jam to all the favorites I was familiar with, but I was introduced to many, many new blues greats and obscure album cuts that I truly would not hear anywhere else. My wife thinks I am some expert on music history, but I picked it all up from all the great tales from the "crazy world of rock and roll" with the 8:30 birthdays. All the local, grass roots ad's have been great! (And lets not forget that Russ is the only one around that forecasts precipitation every morning in fractions rather than percentage) Thanks for all the years on the radio.

  86. I'm Dazed and Confused. The unthinkable appears to have happened. I certainly didn't see this coming. Quite the opposite - the steadily increasing advertising volume that's appeared over the last several years, though unwelcome from a pure listening point of view, suggested financial stability. I'll continue to listen, at whatever location from which you choose to stream that great music, but will sorely miss you on the dial. I'm up for whatever grass roots effort comes out of this, and will do what I can to see you back on the airwaves, where you belong! How can we help?

  87. We have been playing WCLX in the store (The Classic Outfitters) for years, and people ask almost daily "what station are you playing, it's great!". At least for now we can continue to pull it off the internet, but it is sad to think it won't be available over the airwaves. We were an advertiser at one point and hoped to get back with the station when the local economy and our business started improving. Hope you guys can work it out, I miss you on the road and when I away from the computer!

  88. I agree with Steve wholeheartedly. Something can be done if there is some motivation on the inside to look at all options to make it work. I'm sure there are people out there (out here) who have talent and want to help. I, for one, would be willing to contribute my expertise (attorney with business organization and management experience) to look at restructuring and financial solutions. What, I think, we need now is a way to harness the tremendous amount of support of all the listeners before it fades away. There's got to be a way to let everyone know that you are really interested in exploring possibilities to get back on the air and for people to "sign up" to offer their talents, and/or a publicized meeting to brainstorm and map out a plan. The station could be spun off to a new ownership structure, capital contributions (even small ones) could be solicited, ownership shares could be sold, advertising could be pre-sold, you could look at nonprofit status - just a few possibilities. I don't know the first thing about running a radio station, but I'm sure that there's enough of us out here to form a pretty fair team to bring some real drive and impetus to getting CLX back on the airwaves. Let's do something about this and keep using this as a contact forum until some more formal arrangement can be set up. Tim King, email kidomanus@yahoo.com.

  89. Hello,

Is anybody in/out there? Is anybody actually reading these posts? There are people posting here offering to help out (some with talent I imagine) who could lend a hand and maybe could have saved this ship before it went off the deep end. Dennis & Crew, don't disregard us! We are the musicheads afterall! We didn't wait until the last minute to do something as radical as pulling the plug at 5:00 on the day it was announced that there was indeed a serious problem. Please call me and the other posters to discuss a less drastic measure and the remediation of your cash problem. Other volunteers of Vermont, please sign up to help!

    Sincerely

    Steve Sgorbati

  90. Hey all you beautifully sounding DJ'S, all of you, please don't go...please. I'm seriously bummed out. I have been living in Burlington for 5 years now and music heads is my favorite radio station here. I Love the vibes from the station, very cool for a layed back college town like Burlington, very cool, special, unique, the best. Without you guys, being here won't be the same. Please consider what will be gone, and if it's because of finacial, believe me it's not worth ending something so positive, music is life, good vibes do not compare to any kind of money, believe me I know. Positive vibes is the way, no matter what. This radio station gives such good to us true music heads, a blessing, please consider what you will really be taking away, keep Burlington, VT, cool!!!! I'm not college age, I'm 47 and I so appreciate having the station here. I Love living here because of the unique easy going way... that is music heads radio, keep the good going...Peace

  91. I go to Maine for a few days and try to tune in my favorite station this morning, nothing but some CW. I gather from the comments something went down unknown to us faithful listeners. I thought Diane's request for donations was a little odd this weekend. No matter, it appears we have lost the only true voice of classic energy in the valley. I've really appreciated the amazing selections you've brought to this region. I sure hope there is a way we can get you back. If not, thank you so much for the past years. When I can I'll catch you on the web, but it won't be the same.

  92. Yesterday morning on the way to work, I was stunned by your announcement...felt like I lost a close relative....but was too numb to understand....today on the way to work, I was just sad and feeling sorry for myself and the thousands of other musicheads out there...had to find another spot on my dial....kind of thought the dial would be frozen stuck from lack of 10 years of movement...then just as your ad always said...I got to another local station and "they were yelling and saying stupid things"....best of luck.....will miss you guys each and every day.....

  93. Wait a minute - I'm a complete imbecile. You still are online! Are you staying? Wow, my day just got a whole lot better. Everybody else in Central Vermont should be investing in broadband and maybe a net radio. Soon the net will be in the car as well! Maybe some of the non-commercial/college stations that don't know what to do with overnights can pipe you through (w/o ads of course.)

Please say you'll stay (online) for us?

    Scott from Philly

  94. Russ, Diane, Chip -

I just heard about WCLX's demise over on radio-info. This is devastating. You were the top of my Winamp playlist 'preset' at all times for the past 3 years.

I assume this is station owner Dennis Jackson's decision. Perhaps he can tell us why this change is necessary.

Good luck - maybe you can return on the internet - listener supported like Radio Paradise perhaps? I'm in if you want to make a go of it. You already have the studios, the programming expertise and the following, and maybe you can get another terrestrial station or stations interested in the stream.

    Give it some thought!

    All the best,

    Scott from Philly

  95. Well . I just started listening recently & everyone I mentioned this station to was like wow this is incredible.....was incredible...come back someday...please....we need intelligent radio...Mike

  96. Sorry to hear the end has come to the station. After leaving the Burlington area listening online to "The Album Station" was always a taste of home. I''ve listen to you in Alaska, Wyoming and here in the Catskills of NY and there was nothing locally that compared to WCLX.. I will miss you.

Russ maybe its time for you and I to get our "General" and do a little HF CQing.

Thanks to All for a job well done.

    Beau Bushor N1MJD

  97. HI,

Really have enjoyed listening to the station at home and at work (Classic Outfitters)

I missed the message yesterday about an apparent change as far as radio transmission...

    Hope all is well.

  98. Dear Diane, Russ, Chip and The Crew: Sad, very sad news. Happened to catch the tail end of your "announcement" yesterday, left me confused as to what was up. No clearer now... regardless, "what a long (strange?) trip it's been", and I cannot tell you how very much I'll miss the insight, the stories, the anecdotes, the trivia, the history, and mostly, the music. There IS nothing else, not even close - what a loss to all of us, but what a gift it's been, that's for sure. Anything, absolutely ANYthing that I, we, can do to reverse this, PLEASE let me know!! There are ways!! Miss your beautiful voices (Diane's is right up there with Alison Steele's!!) What else to say - good luck? Much happiness! Thanks for the memories, you are irreplaceable. And thank you for the gift of your time and dedication to the vision of WCLX. Best, Gina Styles

  99. Like Michele above, I just got back from sending my daughter to college and turned my radio to my favorite station and heard country!! We music heads have a lot in common, not just a love of music but similar ethics and standards. Please let us know what happened and will you be coming back?

  100. Russ, Dianne & Staff,

Don't know what happened. The loss is devastating! Vermont returns to the state it was 9 years ago without a decent music radio station. How will we function? Goodbye CLX You will really be missed at work, in the car, and at home.
